Staff

Costa Rica Offshore Business Center is proud of its staff. We recognize that the quality of our staff - both as person and as professionals - is our most important asset.

Almost all our staff members are University graduates holding titles from the UCR (Universidad de Costa Rica), VUB (Free University of Brussels, Belgium) and other renowned educational institutions. We carefully recruit persons that set themselves apart from the crowd in respect of their personality and professionalism. We seek intelligent, open minded, responsible, mature and caring people.

The international nature of our staff contributes to enrich our experience at the service of our clients. Our staff has Costa Rican, Belgian, Russian, American, Canadian and other origins. Several persons on our staff have previously lived in numerous countries.

Senior staff

Managing Director - Manuel Calvelo

Manuel Calvelo holds a University degree in Economical Geography from the Free University of Brussels (Belgium) with honors. He also holds a degree in English accredited by Cambridge University. Mr. Calvelo speaks 4 languages fluently and has good knowledge of 2 more.

Mr. Calvelo has 6 years experience in Customer Care Management and Direct Marketing and has worked in Belgium and the Netherlands in management positions in marketing and finance.

Already during his years at university in the mid 90's, he understood that one day the internet would become the largest market place in the world. Mr. Calvelo migrated to Costa Rica in 2001 to develop his own e-commerce company. He started as a freelance consultant and little by little the business grew into a very successful booming business.

Mr. Manuel is specialized in e-commerce, marketing and offshore services.

Senior Financial Advisor -  Wilson Esquivel

Wilson Esquivel holds a degree in accounting from the Fidelitas University in San Jose, Costa Rica and recently obtained a title from the Lankaster Institute as fiscal specialist. He is a certified Public Accountant and member of the Public Accountants Association (Colegio de Contadores Publicos).

Mr. Esquivel has more than 15 years experience in Accounting, Auditing and Financial management. He has worked in Guatemala and Costa Rica for large and well-known companies such Metzoamerica, Corporacion D (Datsun, Mazda, AVIS, Burger King, Papa Jones and others) and others. He has also taught accounting at the Universidad Central.

He is currently member of the Commission of Strategic Planning of the Association of Public Accountants of Costa Rica.

Senior Programmer - Hector Bejarano Jimenez

Hector Bejarano holds a University degree as System Engineer and a Master degree in IT systems from the Universidad Latina de Costa Rica. Hector is a four star certified Microsoft® Developer, Microsoft® Certified Professional (MCP) and Microsoft® Certified Database Administrator (MCDBA). Hector is an avant-garde IT genius that is always aware of the fastest technologies and developments available in Information Technology. He is specialized in .NET, ASP, Cubes, data warehousing and many more

Hector has at his young age worked on contract and freelance basis for numerous large international companies such as Sasso & Soto S.A., Trans Union Central America S.A. and Chiquita Brands International. For his Master thesis, he worked on a project with the Justice Department of Costa Rica.

Graphical Designer  - Luis Vega

We currently work together with 3 Attorneys/Notaries. They have their private practice but work closely with Costa Rica Offshore Business Center.
